Your qualification should aline with the age/level that your athletes are playing.
TO COACH U6 OR U7 RUGBY?
MINIMUM: Due to the game style being tag and not tackle, there is no minimum compulsory requirement at this age group.
RECOMMENDED: Attendance at a Coaching Kids Rugby (U6 and U7) course. These courses are conducted primarily at clubs on a training night and can be arranged with your local development officer.
TO COACH U8 TO U12 RUGBY?
MINIMUM: SmartRugby qualification is the minimum compulsory requirement.
RECOMMENDED: A Coaching Kids Rugby (U8 to U12) Certification is recommended for anyone coaching U8 to U12 rugby. This certification incorporates SmartRugby.
TO COACH JUNIOR RUGBY? (U12 TO U19)
MINIMUM: SmartRugby qualification is the minimum compulsory requirement.
RECOMMENDED: Anyone coaching junior rugby should attend a Foundation Course (this course incorporates SmartRugby) and obtain a Foundation Certificate.
ENCOURAGED: Attending a Foundation course is also the first step in obtaining a Level 1 Coach Accreditation. Obtaining this Accreditation is strongly encouraged for junior rugby coaches.
TO COACH SENIOR RUGBY? (SUBURBAN, COLTS, GRADE, COUNTRY ZONES)
MINIMUM: SmartRugby qualification is the minimum compulsory requirement.
RECOMMENDED: Anyone coaching senior rugby should attend a Foundation Course (this course incorporates SmartRugby) and obtain a Foundation Certificate. Attending a Foundation course is also the first step in obtaining a Level 1 Coach Accreditation. Obtaining this Accreditation is strongly encouraged for senior rugby coaches.
ENCOURAGED: Anyone coaching senior rugby is encouraged to eventually obtain Level 2 Coach Accreditation. You should have Level 1 Coach accreditation before attempting to obtain Level 2 Coach accreditation.
