Winger Cory Jane says the All Blacks are looking to add discipline to their desire to play at a high tempo when they return to action in The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship.
The New Zealanders lead the four-nation tournament after back-to-back Bledisloe Cup wins over Australia in the opening two rounds.
Patchy in their earlier 29-17 victory in Sydney, the All Blacks lifted to a different level to shut out the Wallabies 22-0 in Auckland.
But while they created several chances at Eden Park, they managed to converted only one of them into a try to fullback Israel Dagg.
"It was pretty fast," Jane said of the speed of the game.
"I guess we want to play at that kind of tempo, but probably be a bit more disciplined with the ball."
Jane said the All Blacks were guilty, when under pressure from the Australian defence, of tossing some 50-50 passes rather than trying to be secure with possession.
If they could keep the pace going, but marry that with greater control, "it could be a good year for us".
Jane admits that it's a confidence boost to hear some of the comments out of the Australian camp after the Eden Park Test.
Wallabies' coach Robbie Deans said he didn't think any team in the world could have footed it with the All Blacks in the mood they were in on Saturday night, while skipper Will Genia said his players were taught a lesson.
"It's good to have them talking like that," Jane said.
But he added that it also demonstrated the mutual respect between the sides, something that might not always be evident in the public domain.
"They've always shown us a bit of respect, as we've shown them respect," he said.
"It could come across a little different in the media sometimes, but it was good to play them out there and get the win."
