Fans called on to have their say on Law Amendment Trials

Australian Rugby Fans are being encouraged to have their say on the new Law amendments on trial during the upcoming November Tests.

The IRB yesterday announced it was asking members of the wider Rugby community to express their views on the Law amendment trials currently underway.

Using social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as online surveys fans around the globe will have their chance to provide the IRB with feedback on the five Law amendments on trial.

The law amendments will also be trialled in the Southern Hemisphere in 2013.

The feedback received by IRB will play a significant role in what will be a collaborative evaluation and feedback process culminating in recommendations being made by the IRB Rugby Committee to the IRB Council at its May 2014 meeting.

Any approved Law changes would then be implemented immediately around the world.

ARU Acting CEO, Matt Carroll AM, congratulated the IRB on their innovative decision to engage fans through online and social media outlets and encouraged Australian Rugby fans to have their say.

“Over the next 12 months the IRB will be trialling five new laws and I would encourage fans across Australia to watch the games and provide their feedback to the IRB,” Mr Carroll said.

“It’s not every day that a Sport’s World Governing body asks fans for their feedback on Law  changes so I would encourage fans to jump online, onto Facebook and Twitter and contribute to our great game.”
