The final votes are in and it is officially one of the closest rugby.com.au polls yet! A meagre 6% of votes separated the Rugby public as to whether or not new HSBC Waratahs recruit Israel Falau should be selected for the Qantas Wallabies to take on the Lions.

After a solid week of voting on rugby.com.au 47% voted in favour of Folau donning the Gold jersey, while 53% believed he still had some work to do before being included in the Qantas Wallabies line-up to take on this year’s Lions in June and July.

Folau made a big statement in his debut Super Rugby match for the NSW Waratahs during a trial against the Melbourne Rebels in Hobart last weekend, yet most fans clearly believe the new Rugby recruit still has much to prove.

Folau’s real test will come in a few weeks’ time when he comes face-to-face with a host of Rugby powerhouses from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa when the 2013 Super Rugby season kicks-off.

Don’t miss your chance to see your favourite Australian Super Rugby team by signing up or renewing as a member here.

His performance in such battles throughout this year’s Super Rugby tournament will decide his fate and whether he is selected to step up and face the Lions as a Qantas Wallaby.

It will be a huge challenge for the Qantas Wallabies this year when they go up against Rugby’s best mix from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales during the Lions Tour to Australia, the first since 2001.

Don’t miss your chance to see it LIVE when tickets to the British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia go on sale at 9am local time on Monday 18 February. Tickets are in high demand so make sure you’re one of the first to secure your seats and be part of the experience of a tour that’s been 12 years in the making. Visit the Official Lions Tour Site for more information.
