Australian Super Rugby fans have proven their faith lies with the Queensland Reds in this year’s Super Rugby tournament.

With 39% of the votes, fans chose the 2011 Super Rugby Champions as the team to finish top of the Australian Super Rugby conference this year in the rugby.com.au poll.

The Reds are the most recent Australian Super Rugby team to win the Super Rugby tournament following their first ever Super Rugby title triumph in 2011 after defeating seasoned campaigners, the Crusaders.

Despite losing their trial match against the Chiefs last week, fans are still confident the Reds are the most likely of the Australian Super Teams to win the coveted Super Rugby crown.

This week’s poll results also suggest fans have restored belief in the NSW Waratahs in 2013. The Waratahs received the second highest amount of votes, with 25% of fans believing they would top the Australian Super Rugby conference this year, whilst the ACT’s Brumbies fell extremely close behind on 24%.

The Western Force followed with 7% of votes, ahead of the Melbourne Rebels on 6%.

Star recruits, such as Israel Folau for the NSW Waratahs and Qantas Wallabies powerhouse and former Western Force member, David Pocock joining the Brumbies this year have already made their mark on fans’ thoughts on how the teams will fare this year.

The 2013 Super Rugby season, which was launched in Melbourne this week, is set to be bigger and better this year with the Australian teams set to battle it out against their New Zealand and South African rivals in an attempt to secure a place in the final rounds.

This year also has the added incentive for Rugby fans to witness their favourite Australian Super Rugby team come face to face with the best that British & Irish Rugby has to offer when the Lions Team arrive in June for a Tour that’s been 12 Years in the Making.

The Reds, Force, Waratahs, Brumbies and Rebels will each take on the Lions in games across the country as part of the Tour.

Tickets to the Lions Tour and Test matches in Australia go on sale from 9.00am next Monday 18 February nationwide. Tickets are high in demand so fans are urged to get in quick - visit the Official Lions Tour website now for all the information.

The 2013 Super Rugby season kicks of this weekend with the first all-Australian conference round.

The Melbourne Rebels take on the Western Force at AAMI Park in Melbourne tonight, with a clash between the Brumbies and the Reds to take place at Canberra Stadium tomorrow night.

The Waratahs, who lost their Super Rugby trial against the Crusaders by two points last night will join the tournament in round two following a first round bye.

With many fans signing up to The Official Super Rugby Fantasy competition, this we’re asking fans which Australian Super Rugby franchise would feature most in your Super Rugby Fantasy team?

Have your say now in the rugby.com.au poll now.

Don’t forget it’s not too late to sign up to your favourite Australian Super Rugby team as a member – apply or renew now.
