Australia U20s fullback Shane Wilcox could be forgiven for reveling in Tuesday's 24-19 win over South Africa.

The high flying Brumbies prospect was one of Australia's best against the Junior Springboks, crossing for a try in each half at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

"The crowd was unreal, running out to a packed out crowd is something special, especially playing here in Australia in the green and gold," Wilcox told rugby.com.au.

"Those tries were just off the back of some good footy and I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time but as soon as that final hooter went and Joey kicked it out, that roar was crazy.

"I can’t imagine what it must be like when the Wallabies close out a game like that.

"We went out there with a game plan and stuck to it. There were a few messy parts here and there but it was special to come away with that win."

Yet with another short turnaround before Sunday's clash with New Zealand, there's little time to celebrate.

The Kiwis rolled Argentina 43-20 on Tuesday night and sit atop the TRC U20 ladder with seven competition points ahead of the Pumitas (five), Australia (four) and South Africa (three).

Australia need a win over their Trans Tasman rivals for a clear path to the title and would benefit from the Junior Springboks beating Argentina in the early Round 3 clash on Sunday.

"We’ve just got to rest, go through this game and move onto the next," Wilcox said.

Australia U20s coach Nathan Grey is expected to name his side to face New Zealand on Friday.

Queensland Reds playmaker Harry McLaughlin-Phillips and lock cover Dom Thygesen are also available for selection after joining camp on Monday.
