Former Aussie Sevens representative Paul Asquith will captain the Western Sydney Rams in round one of the Buildcorp NRC.

The Melbourne Rebel will fill the number 10 jersey and be partnered by fellow Super Rugby capped player Scott Gale in the halves.

Asquith made his transition from sevens back to the 15-man format in 2015 and has since made three appearances for the Rebels as he tries to establish himself in the top flight.

It’s a relatively young and inexperienced side that will take to the field this weekend with NRL convert and brother of All Black Lima Sopoaga, Tupou packing down at flanker.

The side will be hoping to improve dramatically on last year’s performance where they finished bottom of the table.

The sides opening match is against the Sydney Rays at North Sydney Oval on Sunday with kick off at 1:00pm.  All of the action will be shown live on Fox Sports.
