Reds backrower Angus Scott-Young is set to front a SANZAAR judiciary committee on Wednesday night after being cited for alleged play.
Scott-Young is alleged to have struck Brumbies prop and former Reds teammate James Slipper in the head after entering a ruck late in the first half.
While no action was taken on field, SANZAAR's citing commissioner deemed the incident "had met the red card threshold for foul play".
The SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee considered the incident on Monday night and will take it to a hearing on Wednesday, with a verdict and potential suspension to be handed down then.
Scott-Young is alleged to have contravened law 9.12: a player must not physically abuse anyone.
A suspension of more than two weeks could rule Scott-Young out of the Reds' African tour for games against the Bulls and Sharks, while he will miss the crucial derby against the Rebels on Saturday if he is suspended at all.
Slipper left the ground for a HIA but later returned after being cleared of concussion.
The prop was one of the Brumbies' best in his return to Suncorp Stadium after leaving the Reds last year following a pair of positive tests to cocaine.
But he had been nervous heading into the match, coach Dan McKellar said.
"I had a good chat to him before the game and he said he was nervous," McKellar said.
"He's got a lot of great memories here and he's played over 100 times for the Reds and coming back for the first occasion to play against them, he was always going to be a bit nervous.
"I think most people are just happy to see him back playing Super Rugby.
"He's a great bloke and he deserves good tings to happen and we're really proud of his contribution to our club so far.
"I think everyone would be pleased - the Reds included - that he's playing at this level again."
The Sharks' Marius Louw has also been cited for a late tackle on Rebels centre Tom English.
Louw was yellow carded after collecting English late and high in the 73rd minute of the Rebels' 28-14 loss in Durban and was subsequently cited with the Citing Commissioner deeming the offence to meet the red card threshold.
The foul play review committee will meet via video link at 4pm (AEDT) on Wednesday.
