Hamish Stewart's starchy defence is likely to earn him another outing at inside centre as the Reds get set to muscle up to the Jaguares.
Stewart made his first start of the season against the Lions in Johannesburg last week and made 14 tackles in the midfield, with the Reds down to 13 men at one stage early in the second half and forced to defend for large patches of the match.
"Defence is a big part of everyone's game, it should be - but I've got a lot in defence and attack to work on," a modest Stewart said.
The Toowoomba product played alongside James O'Connor at flyhalf, who stepped into the no.10 jersey in place of Isaac Lucas.
And against the physical Jaguares pack, the pair could start together again, with Lucas adding spark off the bench.
"It was good to work next to (O'Connor) and also have Jordy (Petaia) on the outside there," said Stewart, who has transformed himself from a flyhalf into a playmaking 12 over the NRC season to best suit the Reds' needs.
But he admitted the backs in particular were disappointed with being unable to create chances against the Lions despite taking a lead late in the second half.
"The forwards laid a platform for the boys to go off and we were pretty disappointed in our efforts," Stewart said.
"We've reviewed that and we've had a stern review and we come out here with a new week and a new challenge this weekend."
The Reds are desperate to spring an upset in Argentina after emerging winless from their first two games.
While they picked up bonus points in both Canberra and Johannesburg, Thorn's men are craving a win ahead of their first home match against the Sunwolves in Brisbane next week.
But Stewart knows they face a challenge against a virtual Test-strength team.
"They're a very physical team, they were one of the top two defensive teams last year and they were in the grand final as well, so you have to match the physicality with them on the weekend and the boys are up for it," Stewart said.
The Reds take on the Jaguares in Buenos Aires on Sunday, February 16, kicking off at 10:00am AEDT and LIVE on Fox Sports and Kayo.
