The Queensland Premier Rugby competition mightn't be able to physically start on Saturday but there will be a contest of sorts kicking off.

QRU and multimedia service DoubleTake have joined forces to create an esports competition for the Queensland clubs called Hospital Challenge Cup V.

Using the video game Rugby Challenge 3, DoubleTake have added all the Queensland teams and players to allow teams to kick off a virtual competition.

Each match will be 20 minutes long and regular Premier Rugby commentator Jaybor Staunton will be calling each game as he does the regular season.

You can watch the games on reds.rugby, Queensland Reds YouTube and gaming social platform Twitch.
