All the highlights from the Super Rugby AU trial match from Viking Park.

The reigning champions of Super Rugby AU, the Brumbies have not stopped work since claiming their crown in 2020.

The coaching and management staff have been working tirelessly since they hoisted the trophy to retain their championship-winning formula and for the large part, they have been successful.

28 players of the 2020 Championship squad will return to the ACT in 2021 while an additional eight players have been given their chance in one of the competitions most promising franchises.

WHO'S IN: James Tucker, Reece Tapine, Archer Holz, Rory Scott, Lachlan Albert, Luke Reimer, Tom Hooper & Billy Pollard

WHO'S OUT: Joe Powell, Lachlan McCaffery, Will Miller, Blake Enver, Murray Douglas, Tevita Kuridrani, Guy Porter & Toni Pulu

ONE TO WATCH: Len Ikitau

Joining the Brumbies in 2019, Ikitau has waited in the wings producing consistently strong performances.

With some shuffling in the Brumbies backline during the off-season, 2021 is Ikitau’s chance to get his hands on the 13 jersey permanently.

With limited game time coming off the bench Ikitau still managed an impressive 12 carries, 58 carry metres, 18 tackles and one try!

PREDICTION: 2nd

There is little doubt that this year’s front-runners are both the Queensland Reds and the Brumbies, however we think that this year, the Reds may just pip-them at the post.

The Brumbies can’t rest on the laurels, they’ll need to show up all season as every side tries to knock them from the top - especially the Reds.

Harnessing the disappointment of the 2020 finals loss the Reds will be seeking revenge and the Brumbies can’t afford to underestimate the power of emotion.

While we’ve put them in at 2nd, for any Brumbies players reading this, we’re happy to be proven wrong!
