Pilz kicks the match winning penalty against Gordon.

A penalty goal after full-time to scrumhalf Eli Pilz has seen Easts claim the 2021 Australian Club Championships.

In a scrappy affair, Gordon scored the first try of the match courtesy of a charge down to centre Ellis Abrahams.

Easts responded with a penalty goal to Pilz, before Gordon went over for their second try of the day off a driving maul from the line-out.

The wet and humid conditions made it difficult for either side to find their rhythm, with Gordon taking a 7 point lead into the half.

It took until the 55th minute before Easts claimed their first try through fly-half Aidan Toua, who dummied his way over from close to the line.

A penalty goal to fly-half Reece Macdonald saw Gordon take back the lead, before a late attacking raid from the home side saw them awarded with a penalty from in front.

In front of a boisterous home crowd, Pilz made no mistake from the spot.
