There are a plethora of Australians plying their trade in the various Rugby competitions across the world.

From Europe to Asia and North America, teams are littered with players from Down Under who have taken their chance to impress in a new setting.

Samu Kerevi, Marika Koroibete and Will Skelton were all called upon by Joe Schmidt from overseas whilst there are dozens and dozens of either former Wallabies and young talent turning out for different teams.

'Aussies Abroad' highlights the standouts from the weekend that was.

France

Former Wallabies hooker Tolu Latu was in the thick of it during La Rochelle’s 22-19 win over Toulouse in the Top 14.

He scored the opening try after pouncing on a charge down in the 13th minute.

The ex-Waratah was then yellow-carded for a dangerous cleanout that was very fortunate not to be a send-off.

Bordeaux’ rise continued off the back of Aussie brilliance as Adam Coleman crossed in the 46-19 win.

Fellow Wallabies Lachlan Swinton and Pete Samu did not suit up but have been brilliant as the club rockets to the top of the ladder.

Hooker Jordan Uelese has been in supreme try-scoring form in 2024/25, scoring in Montpellier’s 42-10 win over Bayonne.

Uelese has three tries in his last four games for the club, all victories.

In further news, Alex Newsome and Irae Simone started in Clermont’s upset 20-19 win over Vannes whilst Jack Maddocks’ game-high four tackle busts wasn’t enough for Pau to take down Castres.

Japan

Bernard Foley continues his red-hot form for Kubota Spears, inspiring them to a 32-27 win over Honda Heat.

Foley contributed 12 points in the five point victory to go with three line break assists and a try assist.

Sean McMahon continued his comeback from injury, featuring in Tokyo Sungoliath’s 30-all draw with Toyota Verblitz.

McMahon is joined by the club by former Red Harry Hockings, with the pair winning a turnover each in the draw.

In division two, Quade Cooper, Will Genia, Rory Arnold and Will Harrison all scored in Kintetsu Liners’ thrilling 38-all draw against the Hino Red Dolphins.

Cooper got the Liners off to a flyer with an early try before Arnold crossed after the break for the Dolphins to level the scores.

The two teams traded tries before Harrison scored to tie the game with a minute left before he was unable to replicate his heroics for the Waratahs after his penalty goal after the siren from halfway fell short.

Nick Phipps set up two tries in Greet Rockets Tokatsu’s 59-17 win over Kamaishi Seawaves as Colby Fainga’a’s double couldn’t help Kyushudenryoku KyudenVoltex as they went down 41-33 to Shimizu Koto Blue Sharks

England

In the Premiership, the Australians had a big impact in Northampton’s 35-34 win over Bath.

Josh Kemeny got the Saints off to a flyer in the first minute before James Ramm’s effort in the 13th minute gave them a 19-0 lead.

Kemeny had two further turnovers in the win whilst Angus Scott-Young finished off the game with a solid 35-minute cameo.

Jed Holloway continued his short-term stint with Leicester under Michael Chieka as they took down Scott Sio’s Exeter.

Holloway came off the bench in the 28-15 win whilst Sio started for the Chiefs as they look to turn around their season.

In Premier Women’s Rugby, Kaitlan Leaney helped Harlequins to a high scoring 36-29 win over Trailfinders.

It took them top of the ladder, although Lori Cramer’s Exeter has the best record at 9-1, sitting third with two games in hand as they prepare to face Ilona Maher and Bristol next weekend.

The United Rugby Championship was on a break over the weekend, yet some Australians are playing big roles for contending teams.

Former Rebel Sam Talakai has found a home at Glasgow, featuring nine times as they sit second on the ladder behind Leinster.

2022 Ken Catchpole Medalist Max Douglas has started every game for Welsh side Scarlets, who are sixth on the ladder.

Playmaker Jack Walsh has been the standout in a tough year for Ospreys, leading the way for carries (72), metres gained (351) and offloads (eight).
