Australia has produced their best Rugby when they needed it, dominating the USA for a 31-7 win in the quarter-finals in Perth.

It was just over 24 hours earlier John Manenti's side left the HBF Park field despondent after an extra-time defeat to the Americans.

The Australians started like they did in that pool game, holding off the USA before striking with a patient move finished off by Nick Malouf for the first try.

They then caught the Americans on the counter, with Malouf getting the turnover to set up Nathan Lawson for a 14-0 lead.

Seconds later, Henry Hutchison produced a similar play, with Hayden Sargeant setting up Lawson once again for his 13th try of the Series, going into the break with a commanding lead.

The Americans were rattled, losing Perry Baker after a professional foul in the process of Lawson’s second.

It inspired the Aussies and young gun Henry Palmer to produce something special after the break, finishing miraculously in the corner for the five-pointer.

The USA side finally got on the board in the 10th minute via a penalty try, leaving Lawson to sit for two minutes.

When Lawson returned, Ben Dowling celebrated the win with a runaway try to secure the game.

‘We’ve been disappointed with our highs and lows over the weekend and I think just went back to the drawing board with some simplicity before that game,” Manenti said on the win.

“We had a bit of a heart-to-heart and I said last night I knew we’d worked so hard to get that sort of performance. We were really clinical and sharp because that’s what we’ve been doing at training

“I’m happy for the boys that they got to express that in a pressure match against someone that beat us 24 hours ago."

They will face Fiji in the semi-finals after they held on for victory over South Africa.

The two sides faced in the semis in Cape Town, with the Aussies victorious 24-7.
