Wallabies flyhalf Ben Donaldson is eager for a chance to replicate his World Cup heroics as he presses for a special Sydney debut against Georgia.

Donaldson was player of the match in the opening World Cup match against Georgia, scoring 25 points in the 35-15 win.

“Yeah there’s definitely a bit of confidence there, Georgia are a bit of an unknown team that you don’t really get to play that often so it’s exciting," he told reporters.

“I guess playing them last year, getting a bit of insight on how they play and some of their players, it wasn’t a convincing win but we can take a little bit of confidence out of that.”

Donaldson played fullback during the win but is focused on competing for a starting spot in the number #10 jersey.

“I’ve just been training at ten just rotating with Tom Lynagh and Noah (Lolesio),” he confirmed

“We’ve got ‘Kels’ (Andrew Kellaway) and Tom Wright at fullback who are both exceptional players.

“I’m happy to play wherever the team needs me.”

Last week's appearance from the bench was the first time Donaldson has pulled on the gold jersey on home soil.

He debuted in Italy before playing in France and Wales whilst representing Australia A in Fiji and the Junior Wallabies in Argentina.

The 25-year-old, who moved to the Western Force at the start of the year, admits the chance to emulate the heroes he watched grace Allianz Stadium in the gold jersey as a kid was driving him.

“Last week was my first game on home social which was pretty special and to hopefully get an opportunity this week where I grew up and watched the Wallabies, it’d be extra special," Donaldson said.

“I’ll go about my business today and keep preparing hard with the boys and if I’m in, I’ll be very excited and it could be a pretty cool opportunity.

“…I went to a lot of Wallabies games growing up with my dad and uncles, having those fond memories of them winning big games here in Sydney and Australia so to get the opportunity to play in my home state and for the national team would be pretty cool.”
