The Brumbies hosted the Blues at GIO Stadium in a top of the table clash.

The Brumbies have continued their re-signing spree, signing impressive prop Sefo Kautai until the end of 2024.

Kautai originally joined the squad as injury cover last season and was instantly thrust into the side to face the Western Force.

Since then, the 25-year-old has stepped up as a reliable member of their pack, handing his starting debut against the Fijian Drua in round eight with regular tighthead and captain Allan Alaalatoa injured.

Having got a taste of starting at the Super Rugby level, Kautai was eager to build and continue his development in a 'special' Brumbies organisation.

“I’m really happy to be staying with the Brumbies," he said in a statement.

“It’s a pretty special group of boys here and I’ve loved being part of it.”

“My time here has been really special so far and it’s a privilege to represent the club.”

The Waikato native will continue his development with his local club in NPC before returning to the nation's capital in 2023.

Brumbies coach Dan McKellar was proud of how far Kautai had come since his days as an injury replacement, joining the likes of Nic White, Noah Lolesio and Nick Frost in re-signing over the past month.

“It’s great for the Brumbies to have Sefo re-sign with the club for another couple years.”

“We knew we were fortunate to find a tighthead with Super Rugby experience when we needed someone on short notice last year but Sef’s exceeded all expectations and has fitted seamlessly into the club.

“Depth at tighthead is critical and we’ve seen that this season, where Sefo has slotted in and brought value so having him stay at the Brumbies is fantastic.”
