The Brumbies hosted the Hurricanes in the final quarter finals match of the round.

The Brumbies remain confident they can flip the result of last month's thriller in Canberra as they prepare for their semi-final clash against the Blues.

Dan McKellar's side were 60 seconds away from pulling off a 'famous' victory before sloppy work at the ruck gave the visitors one last chance, with Beauden Barrett slotting a drop goal with advantage to seal the win.

As they prepare to head to Eden Park, Brumbies flyhalf Noah Lolesio admitted they can't afford another ill-disciplined performance, finding themselves down 16-5 on the penalty count.

“We were probably a ruck or two away from winning that game, that would’ve been a famous victory in Canberra,” Lolesio told reporters.

“We took a lot of lessons from it. We have to be more disciplined, the penalty count wasn’t favouring us at all and for us backs, we need to kick better from that game which I thought we did against the Hurricanes.

“Definitely (a step up this week), we’re not in front of our home fans, it’ll be us 23 against the crowd and Blues so it’ll be an awesome opportunity and we’ll be ready for the task.”

"If we can get a win it’ll be a very famous one for us,” hooker Lachlan Lonergan added.

“They’re big boys and it’s going to be very physical but at the end of the day, it’ll be whoever wins the collision battle so we’ll put our best foot forward."

The Brumbies are hopeful Len Ikitau will be cleared to play after he was red-carded for a high tackle during last week's win over the Hurricanes.

However, even if he is ruled out, Lolesio remains confident whoever is selected can step up and fill the void.

“That’s our point of difference in this competition I believe,” Lolesio explained.

“We have tremendous depth at every position. Lenny’s (Ikitau) a huge player for us and hopefully he can be cleared but if not, we back the next person to slot in and step up.

“It’s something that we thrive on and everyone has to be ready, it’s a squad mentality.”
