Australian Sevens standout Corey Toole has signed with the men's program on a full-time basis until the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup.

Toole has been the main benefactor of a program alignment with the Super Rugby clubs, joining the Sevens squad on loan from the Brumbies at the start of the 2021-22 World Series.

Since then, the 22-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest stars on the circuit, leading the Impact Player Series performance tracker on 223 points as he sits second in tries (21) and first in offloads (24).

The new deal will ensure Toole is eligible for July's Commonwealth Games Games in Birmingham as well the Rugby World Cup Sevens in South Africa two months later.

“I’m really excited to be joining the team on a full-time basis for the remainder of the year and am grateful for this opportunity," Toole said in a statement.

“Every young Rugby player dreams of eventually getting a full-time contract so at times I’m still pinching myself. I’ve enjoyed every minute that I’ve spent with the program so far and am in a privileged position to be able to play a game I love for a living.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped put me in this position, and am looking forward to the year ahead."

Men's coach John Manenti was pleased to secure the flyer on a full-time deal as the program continues to build following Tokyo.

“After a period of uncertainty, it’s great to be able to start to expand our program again," he added.

“Corey is shaping up to be a world-class player, and his recent form on the World Series is a testament to his skill, ability and work ethic.

“Corey signing is a great endorsement for the program & where it’s heading. We want to be challenging for medals every time we compete and, in the process, develop Super players and Wallabies."
