Aden Ekanayake has proved the hero as Australia advances to the Perth Final with a 17-12 win over South Africa in extra-time.
It was a fitting victory after Liam Barry’s side went down to the Blitzboks by three points in the group stages.

However, this was a different Australian side after their heroics in taking down the USA and France.
“I’m on top of the working at the moment,” Ekanayake said after his heroics.
“I know we’ve got one game to go but just soaking it in right now. That game was absolutely unreal.
“The fight that the boys showed with (Jayden) Blake in the first half chasing the bloke down, it’s what we’ve been speaking about all weekend; grit and determination to the final whistle.”
Riding the momentum of day two, the Aussies got off to a perfect start as James Turner scored the opener off a great break from Henry Hutchison.
The South Africans were eager to replicate their form from the group stages as Selvyn Davids was immense for the Blitzboks.
The Sevens icon scored either side of half-time to give South Africa a 12-7 lead after the break.
But the Aussies refused to give up and launched a late attack to close the margin.
Sid Harvey was the benefactor as they spread it sideline to sideline to tie the scores with 45 seconds to go.
However, the conversion from Maurice Longbottom hit the post to send the game into extra time.
Kicking off, the Australians won the restart but found themselves down a man as Hutchison was left clutching his pectoral/shoulder.
South Africa were then dealt a setback after a deliberate knockdown left them down to six players with Ryan Oosthuizen off to the bin.
This allowed the Aussies to strike as Ekanayake finished off the scrum move in the corner to send the home crowd wild.
They will face Argentina in a rematch of last year's Final following their 40-5 thumping of Spain.
