"We understand that the matter is before the Courts," the Drua said in a statement regarding Masi.
"It would be improper for the Club or anyone to offer a comment at this stage, so as to not prejudice the ongoing judicial process.”
RNZ reported Masi appeared before Magistrate Semi Babitu in a special court sitting at the Nadi Magistrate court last Saturday, with one count of assaulting his partner.
The Drua also confirmed Matawalu was sanctioned following allegations of domestic violence last month, with his wife filing an assault complaint.
“Based on information available at the time, the Club completed an internal process and sanctioned the player accordingly in line with our own standards. We are aware of news reports of potential investigations by the authorities, and it’s only fair to all parties concerned to let the process take its course," the club stated.
Masi was a late withdrawal from last week's win over the NSW Waratahs after he was originally named as co-captain.
The 26-year-old Masi has been one of the Drua's biggest stars since their inception in Super Rugby Pacific.
Masi has played 35 games for the Drua and was selected for the Fijian Test side after a breakout year in 2023.
The following year, Masi returned to Sevens and claimed silver at the Paris Olympics.
As for Matawalu, he last featured for the Drua in March during a 52-15 defeat to the Western Force.
He played in the Drua's inaugural game against the NSW Waratahs and went on to debut for Fiji in 2022.
Matawalu has played 41 games for the Drua and 14 Tests for Fiji.
