Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh has shut down any suggestion the code is in the market for NRL star Dylan Brown.

Brown, currently playing for the Parramatta Eels, was shopped around to all NRL clubs over the weekend.

Following this, it was reported by the Daily Telegraph the Kiwi international had been offered to RA.

Waugh has told SEN there is no interest in the five-eighth, confident in the depth they have.

“Not really…we’re focused on our own backyard and ensure we keep developing the way we have over the last 12 months,” Waugh told Mornings with Matt White.

“We’ve got some good depth across all positions at the moment.

“As you’ve seen with Joe (Schmidt), he’s building a good and strong culture amongst that group and we’ll continue to build out amongst the group we have.

“…We’ve always got an open mind but it’s about picking the right talent to strengthen the Super Rugby team as well as the Wallaby environment.”

Waugh also revealed returning legend Michael Hooper is in their sights for the AU/NZ Lions game in Adelaide on July 12.

The game would mark the perfect potential send-off for the four-time John Eales Medalist, who played his last game for Australia in 2023 in South Africa.

“It’s great to see ‘Hoops’ lacing the boots up once again,” Waugh admits.

“That game on the 12th of July is Adelaide between AU/NZ and the Lions one week out from the first Test, we want to put out a high profile team.

“If Hoops is fit, I look forward to having a conversation around what his involvement in that game looks like.”

Hooper’s return to Japanese Rugby was confirmed on Monday, re-joining Toyota Verblitz for the rest of the season.

"I’m very thankful to Toyota and Steve for the opportunity to come and play at a club I have such great memories of,” Hooper said in a statement.

“I’m very excited to contribute to a great team and looking forward to arriving soon.”
