Queensland Reds and Wallabies backrower Harry Wilson has re-signed until the end of 2025.

In a major boost, the number eight rejected the temptation to head overseas, signing a two-year extension to stay in Australia beyond the British and Irish Lions tour.

Wilson burst onto the scene in 2020 following a successful Junior Wallabies campaign the year beforehand.

He debuted for the Reds before earning his Australian debut against the All Blacks in Wellington.

Since then, the 22-year-old has found himself in and out of the national team, pulling on the gold jersey 11 times.

The reigning Pilecki Medalist as Reds Best and Fairest was delighted to remain home ahead of a crucial couple of years.

“I love playing for Queensland, this is my home," Wilson said in a statement.

“We’ve got a great group on and off the field at Ballymore and there’s plenty left for us to achieve in the Queensland jersey.

“It’s an exciting time in Australian Rugby with a Lions Tour and World Cup coming up. I’m very motivated to be a part of it over the next few years.”

Wilson initially missed out on April's Wallabies training camp before being brought in late, with coach Eddie Jones challenging Super Rugby's leading carrier.

“Harry needs to work harder to fulfil his talent," Jones said,

“I’m sure he will make the right choice and we are backing him 100%.”

“Harry had a fair amount of interest from overseas clubs, so it’s great to have him remain in Queensland Rugby through 2025," Queensland Reds General Manager – Professional Rugby Sam Cordingley added.

“I’m sure he’ll be highly motivated to achieve success with both the Reds and Wallabies over the next two seasons.”
