Using stats from Opta, Rugby.com.au looks at five Hidden Gems from the past weekend of Rugby
Will Rowlands (Wales)
In a performance where Wales were forced to make over 250 tackles, the lock was everywhere.
Rowlands made an incredible 27 tackles with zero misses in a complete 80 minute performance.
This included a crucial tackle on Levani Botia that forced the ball out and produced a much-needed turnover.
The 31-year-old was also their main target at lineout time with three clean takes, putting his giant 2.03m frame to good use.
He stepped up to the occasion in his first World Cup game and will be crucial in next week's match with the Wallabies
Diego Escobar (Chile)
Marcelo Torrealba was the breakout star for Chile from their opening game but hooker Diego Escobar was immense for the newcomers.
He recorded four tackle busts in his 11 carries in a tidy 58-minute outing.
On defence, he made eight from eight tackles, two of which were dominant tackles, along with winning two turnovers.
Fullback Inaka Ayarza also recorded a ridiculous stat line with two line breaks and six tackle breaks.
Scott Barrett (All Blacks)
Barrett was one of the best for the three-time champions in a losing effort.
He was a menace at set-piece time as well as one of two New Zealanders to win a turnover.
Barrett also was second in tackle busts (five) and tackles (11) for the All Blacks, which is remarkable for a second-rower.
Jasper Wiese (Springboks)
Wiese rose to the World Cup stage as one of the more promising rookies.
The powerful backrower led the forward pack for carries (ten) and looked damaging with four tackle busts.
He also stole a lineout and won two turnovers.
Alex Mitchell (England)
Mitchell was elite in just his second start for England.
The livewire scrumhalf helped control the game with superb distribution to George Ford as the playmaker kicked them home
Mitchell recorded both of England's offloads on the night, including a freakish play where he beat two defenders and got rid of the ball as a third brought him to the ground
He also broke three tackles and recorded a linebreak
