However, they head to the south of New Zealand with a rotated squad, leaving Harry Wilson to skipper the side.

As for the Highlanders, they sit on the edge of the top six, needing a win to maintain their spot.

Fullback Finn Hurley is a welcome return as they seek to bounce back following a tough defeat to the Hurricanes.

62': De Groot sees yellow as Reds twist knife

Queensland are starting to really flex their muscles here with Ethan de Groot copping a cheddar for repeated infringements.

This makes for a very, very interesting scrum platform with the Highlanders now dropping a back to keep eight forward in the pack - big moment in Dunedin.

56': Queensland scrum sets up Daugunu try

Highlanders 20-19! Filipo Daugunu dives over to narrow the gap but put that one down to the Reds' scrum and Alex Hodgman in particular.

Three resets on the Highlanders' 5m line twisted the knife before Daugunu scored out wide with the hosts on a warning - sharp work from Queensland and it's game on.

52': Robinson sinks another three

Highlanders 20-12! That's a simple penalty goal sailing over from Taine Robinson's boot following a Zane Nonggorr choke tackle and the hosts stretch their lead.

47': Highlanders back three flex their muscles

It's hard to overstate how good Tangitau, Tavatavanawai and Hurley have been for the Highlanders - they're wrecking havoc wherever they go with Tangitau the standout so far.

No score yet in this half but it feels like we're starting to heat up - Reds have a bit more venom in the carry now but this Highlanders defence is holding firm.

Reds welcome back Heremaia Murray to the fold after his sin bin - could be a game chanegr back at 15-apiece.

Highlanders 17-12

42': Reds' scrum muscles up

Welcome back to the coverage - and it's the Reds' starting brightest in Dunedin after half time with a powerful scrum penalty via Zane Nonggorr.

'Landers' defence looking sharp though and handling letting the Queenslanders down -but they won't be mad about packing down again, front row is fired up.

Highlander 17-12

HALF TIME: Highlanders 17 lead Reds 12

A frantic finish to the first half in Dunedin sees the Reds scramble out from a scrum following Tom Lynagh's late turnover - huge second 40 coming up!

37': Tangitau denied again but Murray carded

A very, very lucky escape for the Reds there as Caleb Tangitau is denied once more by the TMO due to an offside call on Tele'a but some justice for another overruled Highlanders try with Heremaia Murray yellow carded for a deliberate knock-down.

What might have been for the 'Landers! That would've been a terrific counterattacking try.

Highlanders 17-12

35': Reds push back with 17-phase passage

Both sides settling into this contest now with the Reds' putting together 15 phases and the Highlanders' defence largely containing their visitors.

Little break from Josh Canham balanced out by a breakout kick-through from Finn Hurley that could've gone anywhere - well poised game heading into half time.

Highlanders 17-12

30': Tele'a touches down to put 'Landers up!

Highlanders 17-12! It's bedlam at the Zoo after Taniela Tele'a wrongfoots the Reds' defence and touches down.

Great work in the build-up from the piggies to draw in Queensland's defence before Tele'a showed balance and pace to step through the line and have the strength to carry a few Reds over.

Conversion is money and the hosts lead in Dunedin!

30': Hosts pummelling Reds' line

It's enthralling stuff here in Dunedin with Filipo Daugunu leading the Reds' defensive charge to keep the Highlanders at bay.

Last five penalties have been against Queensland though and Highlanders have another crack from line out time - could be a card on the cards here.

Reds 12-7

24': Highlanders on the march

Reds 12-10! Back to back penalties against the Reds marched the hosts upfield and it's an easy three pointer for Taine Robinson.

Great work over the ball from Veveni Lasaqa to set up that opportunity.

19': Big Jim the Pilfer King

Can anyone stop Timoci Tavatavanawai over the ball?

Big Jim's done it again with his side on the backfoot and Reds looking hot on attack - yet another pilfer - his 11th for the season and we're only in Round 6!

Reds 12-7

16': Anderson goes bang, Paisami 50-22

What a passage for Queensland!

Started with Lachie Anderson landing a crucial shot on opposite Caleb Tangitau and Hunter Paisami doubles the advatange with a clutch 50-22 deep into enemy territory.

Reds 12-7

13': Tavatavanawai scores after Hastie break

Reds 12-7! Highlanders scrumhalf Nathan Hastie has ignited the Zoo with a cracking break leading to Timoci Tavatavanamwai's opening try!

Hastie skipped past big Josh Canham and scorched down into the Reds' 22 to set up a great platform for the Highlanders and Big Jim does the business five phases later!

11': Asiata mauls over to stretch Reds' lead

Reds 12-0! This has been some start from Queensland as Richie Asiata burrows over from the line-out set piece!

Clean as you like from the rolling maul but a rare miss from Lynagh off the tee - his first of the year - keep the margin at 12.

9': Reds turning the screws in hot start

It's been one-way traffic since Thomas' try with the Reds setting up camp in the Highlanders' 22!

Big carries in tight getting the Queenslanders forward and they'll have a crack at the line after earning another penalty 5m out - time to plug the corner.

5': Thomas strikes first for Queensland!

Reds 7-0! What a start for the visitors after Tangitau's early break! Terrific build up for Queensland bends the line before Angus Bluth breaks it and offlaods for a hot-stepping Kalani Thomas to open the scoring. Tom Lynagh converts and it's game on.

1': Tangitau sends an early message

Welcome to our live coverage of the Reds-Highlanders! It's been a blistering start from the hosts here with an early turnover resulting in Caleb Tangitau flying down the right wing and touching down after a chip ahead!

Sadly for Highlanders fans, he's been called back for a foot over the sideline and the Reds have scrambled well to get back into midfield.
