Wallaroos winger Maya Stewart admits even she was surprised with her own try-scoring escapades as she wrote herself into the history books.
Stewart has been on an incredible run in 2024, scoring in her last six games in gold after touching down in the seven-point win over South Africa.

This saw her go past Tricia Brown's record of 13 career tries in her 14th Test match since her debut two years ago.
It adds to her incredible point-scoring tally at club level, where she rocketed to the top of the all-time list on tries alone.
“It’s pretty cool, to be honest. I didn’t really have any idea about it until last week…so it was really cool to see," she said to the media.
“To do with Lori Cramer as the leading point scorer as well as super awesome.
"...It wasn't something I was looking to do. It just came up but the record in itself is so class considering the amount of Tests we've played in the past."
Stewart has overcome her fair share of injury setbacks to reach the mark suddenly.
She missed the Tests against Fiji and New Zealand whilst her debut was delayed after an ACL injury suffered in late 2021.
“Injuries are funny like that. I was frustrated during the period but I think it’s given me a lot of character and made me who I am today," Stewart reflects.
“I think I’ve just knuckled down with my mobility and strength work in the gym, trying to treat my body a bit better in that regard."
It's led to a full circle moment for Stewart as she looms as a key x-factor in the WXV 2 decider against Scotland, the team she debuted against at the last World Cup.
Stewart became Wallaroo #196 during a tense 14-12 over the Scots in Whangarei to ensure their spot in the knock-out stages.
“That was my debut game for the Wallaroos so it’s a special one
“Their set piece will be great there their 10’s pretty handy on the boot…we’re building and obviously made it hard during the last game but a win’s a win so we’ve got a nice little flow going on into this Scotland game.”
