The incident was quickly upgraded to a red, souring his 100th game for the club.

"Jordie Barrett of the Hurricanes has been issued a Red Card for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby Pacific match at the weekend," the judicial committee said in a statement.

"Barrett is alleged to have contravened Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously, during the match between the Hurricanes and Reds at AAMI Park in Melbourne on 3 March 2024.

"The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee which will take place on Tuesday 5 March."

Barrett was relieved after the game, watching his team close out the game in extra-time after scores were locked at 33-all.

"It's a team game and the boys dug deep and got a win so I'm absolutely stoked about that," he said after the game.

"We saw the emergence of some great leaders at the end that drove us around the park against some adversity

"I'm just proud they backed everything we trained and didn't go conservative in how they played and that's going to mean a lot for us."

Moana Pasifika winger Nigel Ah Wong and Chiefs prop Jared Proffit were also cited for their high tackles.

Ah Wong collected Fijian Drua centre Iosefo Masi in the head with a no arms tackle in their win, their first over their Fijian counterpart.

As for Proffit, he collided heads with Brumbies lock Cadeyrn Neville in the final minutes of their win on Sunday
