Maddison Levi has briefly tied the Australian record for most tries on the World Series as Tim Walsh’s side advanced to the semi-finals in style.
Australia were dominant as they defeated Japan 36-0 to book a semi-final against Canada.

But the sub-plot of the record dictated this game as Levi edged closer to Charlotte Caslick’s remarkable feat.
Only New Zealand duo Portia Woodman-Wickliffe and Michaela Brake (née) Blyde along with Irish superstar Amee Leigh Costigan (née Murphy-Crowe) sit above the duo on the all-time try-scoring table.
Ironically, it was Caslick that was the main facilitator for Levi to tie her mark at 182 tries, before scoring the game-sealer to go back in front.
Caslick set up the flyer in the opening minutes after the playmaker flipped the play for Levi to coast over the line.
The only concern for Tim Walsh in the first half was a slight knock to Faith Nathan, but any fear was alleviated when Nathan raced away for the second.
Caslick and Levi’s combo fittingly delivered another try as Maddi drew level with Caslick’s all-time Australian try-scoring record.
However, the superstar playmaker was quick to re-establish herself as the sole holder of the record when she stepped back inside for try #183 thanks to some great interchange with Demi Hayes.
Before Levi could respond, she was resting on the sidelines as the Aussies closed out the game.
Mackenzie Davis came on and instantly made an impact, stepping back and beating two defenders for the try.
Whilst the attack was sharp, Australia's defence has been near-perfect, conceding just two tries in four games.
"I think we had a really good day today following yesterday so it was nice to get the win in the quarter-final," Hayes said after the match.
"I think our focus has been the connection (in defence) before making the tackle and that was really evident today.
"It's always so nice to be at home. We get to walk back and see all our family and I think the best thing is the fans coming down so it makes it so special seeing the young girls wanting to be us one day which is special."
