UTS and Bond University have claimed Round Two of the AON Uni Sevens as teams begin to book their place in the finals.
The second day opened in Newcastle with the Qualifying Finals to determine the make-up of the finals.
In Queensland, teams competed in semi-finals at Surfers Paradise Rugby Club, with Bond and Griffith progressing through.

Qualifying Final Newcastle
With a semi-final spot on the line, Canberra threw everything they had at Melbourne Uni. The combination of Charlotte Caslick and Mel Kawa kept Melbourne in the game, and a try from Halley Derara sealed the game right on fulltime. FT 15-12
The hometown team were on form for the second qualifying final, and Newcastle put on a show early with two classy tries, before Adelaide Uni rolled the dice before halftime, scoring a length-of-the-field try. Adelaide got back in the game in an entertaining second half, but Newcastle hung tough to progress to the semis. FT 12-10
Semi-finals Newcastle
It was a cracking start to the first semi as a huge hit from UTS Sevens star Aaliyah Paki led to an incredible solo effort from Charlotte Caslick in Melbourne Uni colours. Maya Stewart responded with a try for UTS before halftime. The game opened up late in the second-half via a try to Tiarne Cavanagh before Melbourne crossed on fulltime, but couldn't nail the conversion. FT 12-10
The budding rivalry between Sydney Uni and Newcastle continued in an entertaining encounter. Margot Vella opened the scoring for Sydney before Newcastle countered with two tries of their own in the first half. Newcastle put the game away thanks to a stunning try from a Jesse Southwell grubber-and-chase. FT 22-12
Semi-Finals Surfers Paradise
Bond continued their hot streak, shutting out the Combined Queensland side in a dominant performance. Caitlyn Costello scored a double, with Phoebe McLoughlin and Stephanie Rutherford also getting on the board. FT 26-0
In the other match-up, Griffith University easily dispatched with UQ, running in four tries with scores to Ivana Lolesio, Alana Grace, Terri-Anne Egan and Chantay Ratu. 26-0
Finals Newcastle
In the playoffs, University of Adelaide got the bragging rights over Canberra, while Sydney Uni finished strong against Melbourne to win the Bronze Final.
It was a fast start to the Gold Final between UTS and hosts Newcastle, with some blistering pace off the kickoff from Sariah Pahki to set up the first try to UTS, and Pahki followed it up with two more tries of her own just before halftime. Newcastle looked overwhelmed in their first final as UTS continued the blitz into the second half. Newcastle got on the board late with two consolation tries to Jesse Southwell and Jessica Gentle. FT 38-10
Finals Surfers Paradise
In the Gold final in Queensland, Bond scored early in an entertaining game against Griffith. A try to Alana Grace got Griffith in the game, and from there, teams traded blows. Throughout the tournament Bond were on another level, and it was the same in the final as they drew ahead of Griffith to finish on top. FT 21-15
