Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies fly half Declan Meredith has signed a new two-year contract that keeps him at the club until the end of 2027.

Meredith, 25, has played 13 matches for the Brumbies, with a breakthrough campaign in 2025, including starting and scoring a try in the historic 21-20 win against the Blues at Eden Park in March.

Meredith was delighted to extend his stay in Canberra and represent the Brumbies for another two seasons.

“I’m very happy and excited to be able to stay at the Brumbies for a couple more years. The club gave me the first opportunity to make my mark in the sport and I’m extremely grateful,” Meredith said.

“It means a lot to me to wear the Brumbies colours and represent the rugby community in Canberra and I’m looking forward to continue doing that in the years to come.”

Meredith was born and raised in Cairns in Queensland, representing club Barron Trinity as a junior.

He made the move to the Nation’s Capital in 2019, signing an Elite Development contract with the Brumbies. He joined John I Dent Cup side Wests Lions upon arrival, the same club as head coach Stephen Larkham played for in his youth.

Meredith has gone on to cement himself as an integral part of their club, earning the coveted MacDougall medal for the John I Dent competition’s player of the year in 2023.

During this prolific year for Wests, Meredith made his debut for the Brumbies against the Crusaders, after earning a promotion to the first-team squad. With electric speed and an impressive boot, Meredith covers full back as well as fly half, something Brumbies chief executive Phil Thomson highlighted when discussing his new deal.

“We’re very happy that Declan has committed his future to the club. He’s an exciting talent who has grown immensely since he arrived in 2019,” Thomson said.

“His versatility in the backline is a huge asset to us, with the ability to play in several different positions.

“He demonstrated his potential with his performances earlier in the season and we’re looking forward to seeing how he develops over the coming years.“
