The likes of Lolesio, Burke, Grey and Jorgensen will take centre grace as the next generation of Australian talent prepares to compete at the World School Sevens stage.

The tournament will recommence in Auckland this weekend after a two-year hiatus, with the Australian U18 Girls and Boys teams to compete against teams from New Zealand and South Africa on 17-18 December.

Wallaroos captain and Sevens gold medalist Shannon Parry will coach the Women's side, including Milla Elaro and Piper Simons, who helped Australia A claim the International Invitation tournament in Dubai earlier in the month.

They are joined by Ivana Lolesio, sister of Wallabies and Brumbies flyhalf Noah, along with Edie Burke, daughter of legendary fullback Matthew Burke.

The tournament has been a breeding ground for the Triple Crown-winning side, with the likes of Madison Ashby, Bienne Terita and the Levis helping Australia to back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019.

“This has been an important part of our preparation in bringing all of the players together,” Parry said in a statement.

“It’s exciting to have Milla Elaro and Piper Simons on board, who have recently returned from a successful Australia A campaign, who claimed the International Invitation tournament

“World Schools is a top-quality tournament and the team is ready to challenge themselves against some of the best talent from across the world.”

Meanwhile, the Men's side will be coached by former Sevens and Waratah Michael Hodge, who returns to Australian Rugby after coaching Dallas in the MLR.

The squad includes several standouts from the U18 programs, including Oscar Jorgensen, cousin of Waratah Max, and Rocco Gollings, son of England Sevens legend Ben.

They will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Wallabies Tate McDermott and Fraser McReight, opening their tournament at 9:02am AEDT on December 16 against Niu Nuku Tuta.

“The World Schools tournament is such an exciting opportunity for these boys, as they’re able to compete against some of the best young Sevens players from around the world,” added Hodge.

“The squad’s preparation has been excellent, and they have bonded very quickly – we’ve got plenty of attacking threats in the middle and speed to burn on the edges.

“The tournament itself is a difficult format to win - we need to start fast and just keep winning. We’ve got some good depth in the squad, which will be tested over the two-day event.”

The tournament will be shown ad-free, live and on-demand on Stan Sport.
