Wallabies v Wales Highlights | Second Test | 2024

Wallabies scrumhalf Nic White believes the battle for the nine jersey is taking competition to new levels as they prepare to face Georgia on Saturday at Allianz Stadium.

White came off the bench during the eight-point win over Wales last weekend, coming in for Tate McDermott.

Both scrum-halves are competing with incumbent starter Jake Gordon, who has been one of the Wallabies' best to start the year.

Beyond that, Ryan Lonergan and Issak Fines-Leleiwasa await in the wings after strong seasons for their respective clubs.

“I think the way we’ve been looking at it for a while now is it’s a team effort and whoever gets the nod at nine we prepare them as best we possibly can," White told reporters.

“Jake’s been doing a phenomenal job for the last couple of weeks and it’s just reward for a great season he’s had as well.

“Tate’s had a great season and I think my form’s been good as well and if all three of us are training and playing well, we’re only going to push each other to further heights.

“It’s all about the team and I think that’s the place we’re in at the moment, we want what’s best for Rugby in Australia.”

The Wallabies were lapping up their three-game winning streak, the longest since the 2021 Rugby Championship campaign under Dave Rennie.

White knows they can't afford to take Georgia lightly with two games against world champions South Africa to follow in August.

“Winning feels good and it’s an enjoyable environment at the moment but we’re just going about our work and doing the simple things well

“Two wins are great and the mood’s good with some phonemail support the last two weeks but still a long way from where we want to be.

“We still understand there’s plenty of work in front of us, Joe (Schmidt) talks about earning it every week and here’s another week where we’re going to have to earn it.

“Georgia are a very good side and another awesome challenge…there’s a good feel about it but we understand that to continue that good feel, we’re going to have to do a lot of hard work.”
