Plucky Melbourne have spoiled the Crusaders' Super Rugby Trans-Tasman party despite going down 52-26 in their final round clash at Leichhardt Oval.

The Oceania Barbarians teams have been confirmed for Friday's Oceania Sevens tournament in Townsville.

The teams, which are made up of contracted players and standouts from the AON Uni Sevens and 15-a-side game, will play in the three-day tournament against Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Stu Dunbar will lead the men's side as they prepare to face New Zealand in their opening match of the tournament.

Dunbar is one of several contracted Sevens players included in the side, with Angus Bell, Trae Williams and Henry Paterson looking to make a statement.

Waratah outside backs James Turner and Mark Nawaqanitawase will make the switch from the longer format of the game for the tournament, set to kick off on July 25.

Lily Dick will captain the women's side, which contains a host of players with World Sevens Series experience.

Dick is joined by the likes of Dom Du Toit, Bienne Terita and Tia Hands who were all selected for last month's tour of New Zealand.

Wallaroo Lori Cramer and Reds fullback Emily Bass will also look to impress as they push for Olympic selection.
