French club Biarritz has sacked 2016 Fijian Rugby Sevens gold medallist Masivesi Dakuwaqa for a bizarre biting incident on a night out.
Dakuwaqa bit the cheek of teammate Pierre Pages after the scrumhalf tried to calm him down after a team party last month at a local restaurant in southern France.
The Fijian reacted after being advised by teammates not to drive home, with Dakuwaqa reportedly smashing a car window and biting Pages, leaving the half to require 20 stitches.
"I'd so much like to apologise to Pierre. To apologise to him and his family," he said to L'Equipe.
"It should never have happened," he told L'Equipe. "If I hadn't been drinking, I'd never have done it. I drank too many beers. I lost my way."
Manchester United co-owner Ineos has been accused of failing to honour a sponsorship agreement with New Zealand Rugby.
The federation responsible for the All Blacks says it has launched legal action against the chemicals firm founded by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe after alleging that the first instalment of 2025 sponsorship money due under a six-year agreement struck in 2021 had not been paid.
"New Zealand Rugby is disappointed that Ineos has breached its sponsorship agreement," the governing body said.
"Most recently, it failed to pay the first instalment of the 2025 sponsorship, confirming its decision to exit our six-year agreement.
"Having learned of Ineos' decision to walk away three years early, we have moved to protect the interests of New Zealand Rugby and the wider game.

The former Premiership Rugby club was suspended in June 2023 after falling into significant financial difficulties and has since been excluded from English rugby.
Jordan, who founded Jordan Grand Prix, swooped in to secure London Irish’s intellectual property, brand, and rights after the company went into administration.
The consortium is eyeing a return to professional rugby in 2026 and is reportedly exploring the possibility of playing in the United Rugby Championship (URC) rather than the Premiership
