The Waratahs return to Melbourne to face the Rebels who are chasing their first win of the season.

With so many players and clubs doing media each day, it can be hard to keep on top of a lot of the stories coming out.

Rugby is filled with them across all levels of the game and whilst most are covered through some form of media, there are others that might have slipped off the radar as Super Rugby Pacific dominates discussions

Samu set for Bordeaux expedition

Brumbies backrower Pete Samu is reportedly eyeing off a move to French Top 14 club Bordeaux.

Multiple French media outlets report the Wallaby will link up with the side after this year's World Cup on a two-year deal.

It follows the lead of Reece Hodge, who has signed with Bayonne.

Stats to stun

In the modern game, there has never been a time when stats have been richer and more available to clubs, coaches and fans.

As data continued to develop, take a look at some of the more interesting and unique stats heading into the fourth round of Super Rugby Pacific, courtesy of Opta.

  • The Hurricanes are aiming for back-to-back home wins over the Waratahs for the first time since 2006, having last played in Wellington in 2017
  • Meanwhile, a Waratahs win will be the first time in club history they have won three straight regular season games in NZ.
  • The Chiefs enjoy a healthy record over the Rebels, winning eight of their last nine and their last five by an average of 20 points
  • Defence is key for the Rebels, who have conceded 48.2 points across their last six defeats in New Zealand
  • Despite their unbeaten start, the Brumbies have recorded the second-lowest tries in Super Rugby Pacific (8), with only the Highlanders (5) recording less.
  • The Highlanders have lost six of their last eight games when playing as the home side
  • As for the Force, they are riding a hot streak, winning four of their last five in Super Rugby Pacific, twice as many as they had in the 18 games prior.
  • The Reds will be looking to turn around their poor home form, winning just one of their last four in Queensland. Before that, they had won 17 of their 19 games previously.

Tupou eyeing off Rugby Championship return

Reds prop Taniela Tupou is pleased to be staying in Australian Rugby after signing a deal with the Rebels for 2023, hopeful of being fit for the July Tests

Tupou is continuing his Achilles rehab, with the specialist saying it's the best recovery they've seen for 14 weeks post-operation.

“I think I’ll be back playing for (Queensland club side) Brothers for a couple of games around June/July,” Tupou told The Pac Rugby Show.

“I wouldn’t want to go straight back to International level. I’d like to play some club footy and Eddie (Jones) reckons it is a good idea so we’ll see what happens.

“With the Wallabies, I’m aiming for the All Blacks second game or Argentina here in Australia. At the moment they reckon I’ll be back earlier so I’ll definitely be back playing club footy around June/July.”

Johnson-Holmes reflects on injury return

Waratahs prop Harry Johnson-Holmes has opened up on the 'dark days' during his recovery from his own Achilles injury.

Johnson-Holmes came off the bench at halftime during last week's Rebels defeat, completing his return after succumbing to injury before the England series.

“Going through that whole period of time was tough, we had some dark days in rehab and yeah I guess nights like last Friday, to be able to get back into the sky blue and play with my mates and represent my own state makes those dark days all worth it,” Johnson-Holmes told reporters.

“At the end of the day, I’m getting paid to play a game that I love playing [and] there’s plenty of people out there doing worse and going through tougher things. Having to walk around in a moonboot isn’t as bad as doing some of the stuff that people in all parts of the world do

“When I did come back, it was just going to be that much sweeter to get back into that sky blue, and hopefully back into that gold."

Social post of the week

It'd be rude not with Kids Round this week to reflect on what it's all about.

Ahead of Saturday's clash with Moana Pasifika, the Brumbies unleashed some roving junior reporters to catch up with some of their heroes.

The Western Force lead the way with this before their trip to NZ before their three-game road trip.
