ACT Brumbies winger Ben O'Donnell has inked a one-year deal with the club for 2025.

O'Donnell is fresh off a strong season for NPC side Hawke's Bay after an injury interrupted 2024 Super Rugby season.

The 29-year-old played two times for the Brumbies off the bench in 2024 before heading to NZ in search of greater game time after an ACL injury.

The move turned out to be a major success as the winger became a crucial part of their push to the quarter-finals, scoring four tries in nine starts.

Debuting for the Brumbies in 2023, the former Connacht winger is hungry to nail down a spot in the 23.

“I’m over the moon to sign on for another year with the ACT Brumbies,” O’Donnell said in a statement.

“It’s almost a year ago when I started talking to the coaches about extending my deal and I’m grateful to them for giving me another year. I missed most of last season due to injury, so I’m looking to bounce back next season and give my best to the team.

"...Luckily, Stephen (Larkham) was happy enough for me to go overseas and play for the Magpies in the NPC, which was an unreal experience and a really tough competition. I was stoked to be able to get a full season in without any hiccups."

O'Donnell will face major competition from Australia XV duo Corey Toole and Andy Muirhead alongside Wallabies outside back Tom Wright.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham was pleased to keep O'Donnell in the nation's capital for another season.

“It has been great to see Ben put multiple performances together this year. He has shown how good a rugby player he is,” Larkham said.

“Added to this Ben has all the right attributes to be a Brumbies player, hard-working, intelligent, respectful and very competitive.

"We are very excited to have him on board for next season.”
