Australia have celebrated a remarkable title win on home soil after ousting rivals New Zealand 28-26 in the Final.

It's the first time Tim Walsh's side has claimed victory on home soil since 2018, having fallen agonisingly short in 2024.

The win is made even special considering the hurdles they overcame, doing it without Maddison Levi (thumb) and Faith Nathan (concussion).

Here's what the players had to say after the incredible performance.

Bella Nasser - Australia Captain

“I couldn’t really script it much better."

“We haven’t won at home in a really long time, and for a lot of the girls it was their first time playing at home, so I couldn’t have scripted it any better.

“Obviously Maddi and Faith are a really crucial part of our team, but to see the young ones, Mackenzie Davis and Heidi Dennis, step up tonight like they did was unbelievable."

Heidi Dennis - Player of the Final

“They really made us fight for that and doing it at home made it special.

“It means everything coming off back-to-back injuries. It’s good just to get a straight run and get the win.

“We just wanted to back ourselves. We’ve done the training and know what we needed to do, to go out and do it was great.”

Charlotte Caslick - All-time Australian try-scorer and Sevens legend

"It's exciting, especially going into the final with a few key players missing.

"Heidi Dennis really stood up and I think Demi Hayes had an absolute blinder again all tournament, she's been awesome

"I think winning anyone is great, but then winning one at home is just even more special."

Maddison Levi - injured star, leading World Series try-scorer

"Super stoked. I was never in doubt that the girls couldn't get the job done.

"It's always a tit-for-tat game against them. It's who can settle first and ride out that kind of roller coaster and we always get better versing them.

"I love versing them because I feel like we challenge each other to be better.

"It makes the thumb feel better. It distracted me for a bit there and I'm just ready to get back out there.

Tim Walsh - Women's head coach

"It just shows you the character and what it means to the team to go out there and play well in a scrappy team.

"Every tournament tends to mean everything. The girls are running out there, but I feel responsible for them every day of every tournament and then after the quarter-final or semi or the pool game, I still get nervous and excited about it

"Winning is always the best and I think there's nothing better than winning at home in front of your, you know, friends and family."
