The Sevens action resumes at the Stade de France as the attention turns to the quarter-finals.

Australia topped their pool after taking down Argentina 22-14 to start the day, facing the USA in the quarter-finals (6:30 am)

The quarter-finals will kick off from 5:00 am on July 26 as the top two teams from each pool and the two highest third-place finishes advance.

The day is stacked with action, headlined by hosts France taking defending Olympic champions Fiji.

12:50 am - Men's Olympic quarter-finals draw

The quarter-finals have been confirmed after a thrilling final round of pool games.

They are as followed, starting with the 9th place playoff (all times AEST)

9th Place Semi Final: Samoa v Japan, 4:00 am

9th Place Semi Final: Uruguay v Kenya, 4:30 am

Quarter Final One: New Zealand v South Africa, 5:00 am

Quarter Final Two: Argentina v France, 5:30 am

Quarter Final Three: Fiji v Ireland 6:00 am

Quarter Final Four: Australia v USA, 6:30 am

12:30 am - New Zealand 14 v Ireland 12

New Zealand have fought back for a 14-12 win over Ireland

Zac Ward opened the scoring for Ireland in a tense first half, followed over by Jordan Conroy for a 12-0 lead at the break.

Leroy Carter answered back to start the second half for NZ, with Ngarohi Mcgarvey-Black's try with a minute to go giving them a late lead that they held onto

12:20 am - South Africa 49 v Japan 5

South Africa have produced a major 49-5 win over Japan to advance to the finals.

Needing a win by 21 or more to leap Samoa to qualify for the quarter-finals, Zayn Davids got the Blitzboks off to the ideal start as they scored four quick tries.

It gave them the necessary buffer before the half-time break as they ran away with the massive win in the second half

11:55 pm - Australia v USA in quarter-final

Australia's quarter-final has been confirmed as they face the USA at 6:30 am on Friday, July 25.

It comes after Fiji's seven-point win over France, leaving the USA to advance as the highest third-place finisher.

11:50 pm - France 12 v Fiji 19

Fiji have taken down France 19-12 to top Pool C

The hosts got off to a positive start as Aaron Grandidier dived over for the opening try, answered by Jerry Tuwai to level the scores at the break

Kaminieli Rasaku put Fiji in front two minutes into the first half before a try to Joji Nasova sealed the win

11:20 pm - USA 33 v Uruguay 17

USA have ensured their spot in the final eight with a 33-17 win over Uruguay.

Perry Baker did what he does best, racing away for the opening try for the USA, adding his second to restore their lead after a pair of Uruguay tries.

Lucas Lacamp extended the lead with a blistering solo effort as Baker add try trhee and four to seal the win

10:50 pm - Australia 22 v Argentina 14

Australia will top Pool B after a 22-14 win over Argentina.

The Australians took down the SVNS League Winners in one of the upsets of the Olympics so far as they took a 10-7 lead into the break.

Argentina hit back to reduce the margin to one but the Aussies scored late to seal the win

10:20 pm - Samoa 26 v Kenya 0

Samoa have kept their finals hopes alive with a 26-0 win over Kenya

The Samoans started the scoring as Motu Opetai sliced through for the first try and the only points of the half

They extended the lead after the break following a yellow card to Kenya as Paul Scanlan strolled over, with two late tries giving their points difference a valuable boost

Welcome back to day two of the Rugby Sevens at the Paris Olympics as the competition gets serious.

Australia are one of six teams already locked in for the quarter-finals but there is plenty on the line in the final pool matches.

It's a stacked opening slate of games, with Australia-Argentina a crucial test for John Manenti's side.

On top of this, New Zealand and Ireland will battle it out for top of Pool A as hosts France take on a Fijian side in the type of form that delivered two gold medals.
