The Western Force thanks Santiago Medrano for his service after informing the Club that he’d be departing to explore an overseas playing opportunity.
Medrano, 28, has been a loyal servant having joined the Club in 2021 and spent four Super Rugby seasons with the Force.
The Argentine tighthead prop’s commitment to the Force was underlined when he brought up his 50th cap for the Force in the final round of the 2024 season. Medrano’s quality was showcased with a third-place finish in last year’s Nathan Sharpe medal, while he has always been a beloved member of the playing squad.
Medrano said: “It’s been a tough decision and it’s sad to say goodbye. Over the past four years, Perth has felt like home for my wife Sofia and I, as the first place we’ve lived away from Argentina.
“We love Perth and we love the Force fans. Playing at HBF Park has always been a pleasure with the loud and passionate Sea of Blue. I’ve loved talking to the fans after every game and on the streets around town. I appreciate them and will miss them.
“I also want to thank the staff from the coaches, support staff and front office who are all pulling together in the right direction. Finally to my teammates, I will miss them a lot, from the tours, to playing alongside them and the changeroom environment. There will always be a place in my heart for the Force.”
Force general manager of rugby Chris Goodman said: “We’re sad to see Santi and his wife Sofia depart the Club after four years with the Force.
“They’ve made a lasting impression and we will miss Santi’s positive attitude, good nature and drive around the group. We wish Santi and Sofia all the best in their next adventure.”
