Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies flanker and Canberra-local Rory Scott has extended his contract with the club until the end of 2026.
Scott, 24, who is a product of Marist College, has been in excellent form this season, playing in every match apart from one.
And Scott was thrilled to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Brumbies, who sit fifth in the Smartech Super Rugby Pacific table ahead of Round 9 against the Reds at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
“I’m very happy to re-sign with my hometown club. It’s always been a boyhood dream to pull on the Brumbies colours,” Scott said.
“It’s a really exciting time to be a part of this team, we have a brilliant playing group and there’s the added prospect of the upcoming British & Irish Lions tour at the end of the season.”
A graduate of the Brumbies pathways program, the 24-year-old began his career at senior level with the Canberra Royals, who he represents today. He won consecutive John I Dent Cups with the club in his first two years after leaving school.
He made his debut for the Brumbies in 2021 against the Western Force in Super Rugby AU and has gone on to make 38 Super Rugby Pacific appearances for the club, scoring three tries.
Scott was picked for the Australia XV tour of Europe at the end of last year, where he appeared in both tour matches against Bristol Bears and England A.
Brumbies chief executive Phil Thomson was pleased to see another product of the Brumbies academy system commit their immediate future to the club.
“Rory is a terrific player who has been consistent for us for several seasons now. We’re delighted to have him on board until the end of next season,” Thomson said.
“He’s always striving to make improvements in his game and this is reflected in his tireless performances week after week.
“It makes it even more satisfying for us as a club to see players from Canberra come through our pathways program and earn their stripes at the Brumbies through hard work and determination.”
