The NSW Waratahs have added to their Super Rugby Pacific after signing backrower Jamie Adamson.

Adamson started his Rugby career with the England Sevens squad and was first called into the program in 2019.

He became a regular member of the side and featured at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, emerging as one of the few positives from a tough campaign.

The 25-year-old was the tied leading try-scorer, including a hat-trick against Uganda in the ninth place playoff.

Adamson stayed in Australia after the 2024 Perth SVNS and found a home at Easts, helping them break a 55-year Shute Shield title drought.

He finished the year as their leader for carry metres (1291), which caught the eye of coach Dan McKellar enough to offer him a contract.

“It sends a good message to any young player out there playing club rugby in New South Wales, that if you perform, then you're a chance to get picked up,” McKellar said.

“Jamie’s is a great story, and I love a story of a player who hasn't had the red carpet rolled out for them.

“In his career, he's had to fight and work hard for it; and those players appreciate the opportunity. Jamie's already shown that through his training as well as his character.”

Adamson was thrilled with the opportunity to compete for a spot in the Waratahs' backrow.

“I was back in the UK, then back out six [in Australia] weeks later," Adamson said.

"I did the pre-season before Christmas and was offered the opportunity to stay on.

“It's a nice pressure release, to know that I'm here for 2025; but that just opens the door.

“The next pressure is to get selected and hopefully contribute to the team's success.”
