Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus is confident the Wallabies will bounce back after their 33-7 defeat as they remain on guard for a Perth ambush.

The South Africans showed why they are world champions with a near-perfect performance over the hosts to kick off the Rugby Championship.

Tickets to the Wallabies home 2024 Test fixtures are available here.

It was Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt's first defeat in charge and Erasmus, who battled Schmidt during his time at Ireland, knows they will become an even more dangerous prospect as they continue to develop under the new coach.

“Next week is a new Test and we want to give other players a chance, but that said we know Joe Schmidt (Australia coach) and how he can turn things around,” Erasmus told reporters after the match.

“He’s only had four games with Australia and next week is a new game and a new venue and we are expecting a big challenge.”

“Next week is going to be a completely different challenge and we know it is going to get tougher, so we need to remain focused and keep working hard," captain Siya Kolisi added.

Erasmus could already see Schmidt's DNA on the Wallabies despite keeping them scoreless until the final minutes as he was left pondering what to expect next week in Perth.

“I can’t talk for Joe, but certainly he’s busy building something," he notes.

"We’re not 100% sure, and we as players, coaches and as a management team, we were saying 'listen, let’s try and find out exactly which way they’re going' and they had us guessing are they going to run now, are they going to kick now?

"Yes, the game went our way, but none of us can tell you ‘this is exactly how Australia play currently’, and maybe that’s part of Joe’s plan.

“We know Joe Schmidt very well. And he will turn this team around like he turned Ireland around.”

Erasmus is confident that RG Snyman (foot) and Ruan Nortje (knee) will be fit for Saturday's Test after their late withdrawals

“RG picked up a foot niggle during the week and didn’t pass a fitness Test, and the plan was that Ruan (Nortje) would have started, but he also hurt his knee, so we opted to start Ben-Jason with Pieter-Steph at lock, and we thought he did well against their tall forwards," he added.
