NSW Waratahs v Melbourne Rebels

U16s

The NSW Waratahs have sent a message to the rest of the competition as they began their title defence with a 104-0 win over their Melbourne counterparts.

The onslaught began in the fifth minute as captain Harry Whitaker dived over for their opening try.

The nephew of former Wallabies skipper Chris put over hooker Roman Leilua before crossing for his second.

It allowed the Waratahs to press and build a 38-0 lead at the break after a late double to impressive flanker Aston Weir.

Samuela Sorovi and the hosts picked up where they left off in the second half with a bursting run down the sidelines to power his way over.

A yellow card to Rebels flanker Faf Krueger for a deliberate knockdown opened the floodgates as the Waratahs quickly raced to the century.

Replacement winger Darcy Feltham ran riot as he crossed for a hat-trick to establish the Waratahs as the team to beat.

U19s

The Waratahs have delivered an impressive 80-20 win over the Melbourne Rebels at Leichhardt Oval.

Winger Tom Klem got the hosts off to a flyer as he dived over for the first two tries, the opener set up by a perfect ball from Oscar Jorgensen.

Fellow winger Brendan Palmer added to the onslaught, beating three defenders for the first of a hat-trick.

From here, the Waratahs built a 40-3 lead thanks to a double via centre Liam Grover before the Rebels hit the board through Journey Wana.

Replacement playmaker Edward Lyons added some spark for the Rebels, crossing for a second half double.

But it was all the Waratahs as Palmer completed his hat-trick whilst fullback Sid Harvey impressed with the boot after nailing several sideline conversions.

ACT Brumbies v Western Force

U16s

The Western Force have held on for a thrilling 19-18 win over the ACT Brumbies.

The Force were forced to dig deep after an early yellow card to Rhymen Tusi. It allowed Brumbies fullback Aidan Wusch to dive over for an 8-0 lead before the Force mounted their comeback.

Front-rower and captain Dozion Laupama led the charge as he crossed for a break right on half-time.

The Force then took the lead from a penalty try from another maul, with Brumbies hooker Oscar Dossetor binned for collapsing the maul.

Tomas Jensen got the hosts back on the front, only for Laupama to crash over six minutes later.

Archie Elton’s drop goal conversion proved crucial as the Brumbies continued to press for a winner.

A yellow card to Jacob Scoon opened the door for the ACT side as replacement Tyler McCudden dived over in the corner after the siren.

However, Jensen’s conversion sailed to the left as the Force held on after withholding one last Brumbies charge thanks to a Bareek Kleine-Deters Ausage’s intercept.

U19s

The ACT Brumbies have started their title defence with a 53-23 win over the Force.

The Force opened the scoring via a Henry James penalty but the Brumbies’ forwards was quick to assert their dominance through Lipina Ata.

He was followed over by fellow tight five members Beau Morrison and Finn Baxter before the Force responded via Boston Fakafuna.

They reduced the margin to one before the Brumbies ran away with the contest.

Silas Pilot crossed for a double, headlined by an entertaining end-to-end try to give the Brumbies a 34-16 lead at the break.

The Force hit back via Finn Press but it was all the Brumbies as Lachlan Smith crashed over from scrum-half.

Australia U20s starts Shane Wilcox and Joe Dillon combined to round out the dominant win for the hosts as Dillon dived over in the final minute.
