Rugby Australia have unveiled their Southern States representatives to feature in an under 16 Barbarians clash against ACT Brumbies this September.

Future prospects from South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory were identified during July's Southern States Championships and selected for higher honours by pathways manager Nic Henderson.

Henderson was on deck to watch Australia's next gen in Adelaide and named an initial selection of 18 before whittling down to a core group of 12.

"The Southern States are an important part of our national pathways. We saw some great enthusiasm on display and a real attacking mindset," Henderson told rugby.com.au

"I really enjoyed the willingness and intent to take collisions and force contact. There's some quality players in this squad and we're excited to see what they can do at the next level."

A total of six South Australians, five Territorians and one Tasmanian will feature in Canberra next month with ACT/SNSW poised to contribute further squad members.

From South Australia, front rowers Owen Healy, Kae Mauheni-Edwards and flanker Matthew Du Plooy join the established halves pairing of Manuel Docampo and James Byrne with fullback Jake Skyrypek also named.

Wing siblings Oliver and Couper Liddicoat headline the Territory's selections alongside prop Jack Kerr, lock Harry O'Hare and standout centre Luan Oberholzer while backrower Cooper Crowther will fly the flag for Tassie.
