The first international event at Sydney’s new Allianz Stadium is officially a sell-out.

The Wallabies return to Sydney to take on the reigning Rugby World Cup holders, the Springboks, this Saturday night as part of The eToro Rugby Championship.

It is the second time that the Wallabies have played in Sydney this year – and the second sell-out – with the deciding match of the England series at the Sydney Cricket Ground in July also being sold out.

Following a 25-17 victory to the home side in their first match-up at Adelaide Oval last Saturday, the Wallabies retained the Mandela Plate – the trophy up for grabs when the Australians and South Africans clash.

After the strong performance in Adelaide, the Wallabies will be looking to establish some consistency in Sydney as they look to enhance their campaign in The Rugby Championship – with the Bledisloe Cup (also a part of The Rugby Championship) kicking off in Melbourne in two weeks.

Rugby Australia CEO Andy Marinos, says the second consecutive Sydney sell-out will buoy the Wallabies – and Rugby.

“Selling out again in Sydney is a huge vote of confidence in the Wallabies, in Rugby, and in this beautiful new stadium at Moore Park.

“We have been looking forward to getting to our new Sydney home for a long time – that moment is finally here, and we are excited to share the moment with our fans.

“We must thank the New South Wales government, including Destination NSW and Venues NSW, for their support in making this a reality – they have been enthusiastic supporters of Rugby, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with them.

“With the Bledisloe Cup Test against the All Blacks remaining in Melbourne on 15 September, we are on track to sell over 250,000 tickets to Wallabies matches this year – more people will have attended a home Wallabies match than any season since 2013 when we had the British and Irish Lions here on tour.

“Thank you to our amazing fans – I am sure your support will give a huge lift to our Wallabies on Saturday night.”

Fans are urged to plan their trip and get to the new Allianz Stadium precinct early to make the most of the spectacular facility and entertainment, as well as new food and beverage options from Merivale – all open within the precinct from 5pm.

The earlier match of The eToro Rugby Championship between the All Blacks and Argentina will also be shown on the screens at the stadium.

All tickets include free public transport to Allianz Stadium, fans simply need to show their event ticket to transport staff when boarding services (Note: Domestic and International Airport station access fee is not included).

Fans are encouraged to visit transportnsw.info to plan their trip.
