Arabella McKenzie believes the Wallaroos need to go into Saturday's clash with an expansive mindset if they wish to match it with the Black Ferns.

The tournament formalities are out of the way as the Wallaroos ramp up their preparations for their Rugby World Cup opener against the tournament hosts, undergoing their typically physical 'Test match Tuesday' session.

The Kiwis are a familiar opponent for the Wallaroos, having played them in three of their five Tests, including their last two.

With that breeds a level of familiarity despite a lack of results, finding success in patches when they managed to spread the ball around in Adelaide.

This is critical according to McKenzie, stressing the importance of implementing a positive game style to take it to the Black Ferns.

“We love to play that expansive style of footy so we’re going in with a really good attacking Rugby mindset,” McKenzie told Rugby.com.au “We’re looking to be fierce and physical in our breakdown and everything we do.

“We just want to get out there and have a crack, have some fun.”

This attitude comes as the Wallaroos embrace the blackout that awaits them at Eden Park, fully aware they will be significantly outnumbered in the stands.

Already 35,000 tickets have been sold and with a sellout looming, McKenzie is hoping the side can embrace the occasion as they look to take it to the defending champions.

“I'd say 25,000 of the 30,000 (tickets sold) will be Black Ferns so no pressure on us,” she remarked.

“We’ll embrace the crowd, get around it and it’s amazing to see how many tickets have been sold and New Zealand getting around their team and the tournament.

“It’ll be unreal but no pressure on us as the underdogs, just embrace the title and give it a real good crack.”
