Atasi Lafai (Waratah #128) is a Campbelltown product who started playing backyard footy at a young age alongside her brothers, including former NRL player Tim Lafai.
Lafai made her Waratahs debut during the inaugural Super Rugby Women's season in 2018.
The proud Samoan has overcome major injury hurdles throughout her sporting journey. She's suffered two ACL injuries on top of a broken collarbone, major ankle surgery and a neck issue that threatened to end her career.
The Waratahs lock overcame a freak eye injury to be named player of the Super Rugby Women’s grand final in April, 2024, and later RUPA's player of the year.
She was a consistent mainstay in the Wallaroos squad during 2024 and celebrated a WXV 2 win with the side but an unfortunate ACL injury in her first pre-season trial game to start 2025 is another cruel blow with the forward to miss the season.
