The highest-ever capped Wallaby and veteran prop James Slipper was raised in Gold Coast Queensland. The Reds would pounce on Slipper’s talent coming out of school, so he was fast-tracked to debut in Round One of the 2010 Super Rugby season against the Waratahs. That same year the Wallabies handed Slipper his debut against England at only 21 years of age. Slipper won a Premiership with the Reds in 2011 and was awarded Player of the Year honours in 2013 and 2014. 2015 saw Slipper appointed skipper for the Reds and a Rugby World Cup call up, where he played in the final loss to New Zealand. The immovable Slipper is one of the most consistent prop forwards in the history of the game, with his career spanning across several generations. He moved to the Brumbies in 2019. Last year, he broke the Australian cap record in the Bledisloe Cup tie at the Accor Stadium. Before the start of the 2025 season, he is the third most-capped Super Rugby player of all time, sitting just two caps behind legendary All Black scrum half Aaron Smith.
