Kayla Canett
Kayla Canett picked up rugby at the age of 14 after her PE teacher suggested she start with touch rugby ahead of the season. Playing basketball for the first three years and soccer in her final year of high school, Canett was already a conditioned athlete who's abilities translated well on the rugby pitch.
In 2015 she competed with USA Rugby's High School All-American sevens and fifteens including an MVP honor during the Vancouver Rugby Festival. As a rugby player in high school, Canett was a National Champion from 2013-2015 and made her senior international debut with the Eagles Sevens at the Dubai Sevens 2016.
From there, she added a D1 National Championship with Penn State in 2017 and earned a selection with the Women's Eagles XVs for Rugby World Cup 2017, where the USA finished fourth. Converting back to sevens, Canett would go on to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, and again three years later for the 2024 games in Paris.
