Debut Test Match2024 v Fiji, Sydney

A powerful forward who is a late bloomer to the game, Lydia Kavoa has enjoyed a rapid rise in a short space of time.

Born in New Zealand to Fijian and Tongan parents and raised in Sydney, Kavoa loved watching Rugby but grew up playing soccer.

She joined the Navy as a 20-year-old and is now a leading Seaman in the Navy People Branch. It's in the Navy where she discovered her love of Rugby.

She played for Navy in the ADF Tri service competition at Ballymore Stadium and was named rookie of the year and female MVP despite only playing rugby for three months before joining the Brumbies.

She was quickly identified by the Wallaroos and brought into the squad. Kavoa made her Wallaroos debut against Fiji in July, 2024. She went on to play a further four Test matches and will now chase a maiden Rugby World Cup appearance in 2025.
