Matai Leuta
Matai Leuta is orginally from Monterey, CA but spent much of his childhood in Fiji. Picking up rugby in the sevens kingodm of Fiji, Matai returned to California as a teenager and continued playing at Seaside High School, also playing football. Leuta climbed up through the club ranks, playing for the Monterey Beachdogs while attending Monterey Peninsula College, and later with the San Jose Seahawks.
In early 2015 at a recruitment camp at the Elite Athlete Training Center, Leuta was put on the USA Rugby radar, debuting on the HSBC World Rugby SVNS Series in Hong Kong that same year. Matai became a mainstay with the USA Men's Seven, providing power on the pitch and eventually earning the Olympian title in 2021 for the Tokyo Games. Taking a break from USA Residency and joining MLR, Leuta jumped back onto the sevens fold in 2024 with a roster spot in Paris.
